Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Licensing & Regulatory Compliance, Canada, the Licensing Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing corporate and agent licensing processes to ensure compliance with provincial regulations. This role will implement process automation and innovation to drive efficiency and improve regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, stakeholder collaboration skills, and a solutions-oriented mindset to enhance licensing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage corporate and agent licensing applications, renewals, and filings, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Maintain regulatory licensing databases, tracking compliance deadlines and ensuring proper credentialing across stakeholders.
  • Conduct license verification and monitoring, ensuring accurate access to insurance sales systems.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on licensing requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to support audits and regulatory filings.

Process Optimization & Automation

  • Evaluate and enhance existing licensing processes, identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Implement compliance technology solutions that streamline licensing workflows and reporting.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to best practices.
  • Track and analyze licensing performance metrics, identifying trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a point of contact for process improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and business goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in business, law, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Experience in process automation, regulatory compliance technology, or workflow optimization.
  • Knowledge of Canada's insurance agent licensing regulations, including renewal and compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to recommend efficiency improvements within licensing workflows.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other compliance-related systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to train and support internal teams.
