We are looking for a technologist to join our team as a Solutions Architect, who will design modern, scalable, and secure applications using microservices, containers, and APIs, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems, providing technical leadership, and leveraging strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maximize IT investments.

Fundserv has been the indispensable hub for the Canadian investment industry for over 30 years, connecting manufacturers, distributors, intermediaries, and service providers to build solutions that simplify business interactions and promote innovation in the industry. We do this by focusing on our corporate values of Collaboration, Adaptability, Integrity, and Respect.

In this role, you will

  • Own end-to-end solution delivery, ensuring alignment with business requirements, architecture standards, and project timelines.
  • Define and document technology solutions for projects, including software and hardware decisions.
  • Lead technical aspects of projects by providing solution analysis and architecture blueprints for new and existing applications.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into actionable technical designs.
  • Design solutions with scalability, fault tolerance, security, and cost-efficiency in mind, following industry best practices.
  • Proactively identify delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery without compromising quality.
  • Produce clear architectural documentation and integration workflows to support IT teams and ensure maintainability post-delivery.
  • Drive adoption of DevOps practices, mentor development teams, and conduct research on emerging technologies to enhance cost-effectiveness and system flexibility.

Why you are the person we're looking for

You've demonstrated the ability to do the following, gained through education and/or experience:

  • You are passionate about technology and eager to explore new and emerging trends. You take ownership of challenges and develop solutions that balance cost-effectiveness with delivery feasibility.
  • You have experience in solution architecture, cloud-native development, or software engineering, including hands-on experience building systems from scratch using Java, LAMP, and MEAN technology stacks.
  • Proficiency in integration patterns and tools such as APIs, REST, Kafka, Kubernetes, MQ, and API gateways.
  • Excellent knowledge of multi-tiered web application architecture and development; experience with Web/CSS/JavaScript frameworks is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of identity and access management solutions and standards (e.g., OAuth, SAML).
  • Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns, including scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience, recovery, security, and privacy.
  • Familiarity with 12-Factor, Cloud Native Domain-Driven, CQRS, Event Sourcing, messaging, streaming, sync/async, distributed systems, infrastructure patterns, and architecture frameworks.
  • Proven experience in an agile and DevOps environment, including the use of DevOps build automation tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Terraform), and knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.

We recognize that there are different paths to gaining skills, so if you have diverse experience which doesn't match the criteria exactly but you think you would be great in this role, we invite you to apply!
