As the Driver, you will be accountable for operating various Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply delivery vans and safely and efficiently deliver pharmaceuticals, biologicals and medical supplies to hospitals, doctors' offices, health units, long-term care facilities, mental health institutions, correctional services locations and other facilities within Ontario.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Configure, shrink wrap and weigh shipping pallets for each delivery location and ensure weight conforms to requirements.
  • Load pallets onto trucks using forklift or pump truck.
  • Adjust schedules for unexpected delays, notify customers of revised deliver dates and times and advise Manager or Assistant Manager of changes.
  • Ensure the cold chain is maintained on perishable goods throughout delivery, loading and unloading.
  • Perform daily duties according to standard operating procedures and instructions and ensure vehicle is safe by doing a visual of the vehicle, performing routine maintenance by checking oil, tire pressure, brakes, fluid levels and cleaning the inside of the vehicles.
  • Perform clerical and other duties as required.
  • Complete load sheet and driver's daily log book in compliance with Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Drive across Ontario (Including Toronto, GTA and all other cities)
  • Drive long distances that may require overnight stays.
  • Work in cold refrigerated environment for extended periods.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Valid class G Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Valid forklift or reach lift truck certificate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to lift individual boxes in excess of 25 kilograms, operate trucks, forklifts, pump trucks and other equipment safely.

Knowledge of:

  • Operations, preventative maintenance, and routine servicing to operate and maintain cargo vans during varying weather and road conditions.
  • Must be familiar with operating reefers and refrigerated vehicles.
  • Must have knowledge of Drug and Pharmaceutical controls during storage and transportation.
  • Transport requirements of special loads (e g. pharmaceuticals, biologicals, and surgical supplies).
  • Roads and highways within Metropolitan Toronto and alternative routes to make adjustments and keep to schedules.
