Role Description:

We are currently recruiting a Field Health & Safety Advisor Contractor to join the Tamarack Team. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Tamarack Operation teams in the engagement and implementation of our health and safety management system. We are looking for someone in the Northern Alberta region. Candidates must be geographically located in either the Athabasca, Slave Lake, or Grande Prairie area.

Duties and Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Mentor, coach, and support front-line staff within Production and Capital Operations.
  • Conduct regular tours to the field to evaluate HS implementation and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Conduct HS Facility and Lease Inspections in Production Operations.
  • Conduct Worksite inspections throughout Capital Operations - Drilling, Completions, Facility & Pipeline, and Earthworks
  • Coordinate and deliver onboarding of field-based Tamarack Staff.
  • Navigate multiple software applications and coach others on how to use software programs/systems.
  • Develop and deliver Corporate safety meetings; attend Vendor safety meetings as required.
  • Conduct Vendor spot checks and corporate evaluations or audits as required.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with incident investigations as required.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of ERP exercises in both Production & Capital Operations.
  • Assist with Procedure (SOP/SSOP) and Formal Hazard Assessment (FHA) development.
  • The role requires regular travel throughout the field. 70% field-based / 30% office-based.

Qualifications / Training:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in Oil and Gas in a direct Health & Safety role.
  • CRSP Professional Designation, OHS Diploma, or another related Certificate considered an asset.
  • Incident Investigation training
  • Industry related safety training: H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and Confined Space Awareness, etc.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Qualities:

  • Strong computer and organizational skills are a must.
  • Cooperative, well-organized team player with strong coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be an active listener, and support the field-based staff, assist operations as required.
  • Knowledge of applicable OHS & AER legislation and regulations.
  • Experience with core operational H&S processes such as; Safe Work Permits, Hot Work, SIMOPS, Gas Detection, Confined Space Entry, Ground Disturbance, Industrial Hygiene, and Managing the Control of Hazardous Energy.
  • Experience working with Production, Drilling, Completions, Facility & Pipeline work activities and operations.
  • Comfortable speaking in large crowds or commanding an audience when speaking.

  • Full-time, Permanent - Contract Position. Must have a reliable truck for transportation and regular visits to the field.
