POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a pivotal executive role reporting to the SVP, Capital Markets and Corporate Strategy. As the most senior marketing leader at Navacord, the CMO will set the vision and lead the execution of marketing strategies that align with the company's growth objectives. The leader will collaborate with Chairman, CEO, executive team and the extended network of marketing professionals within Navacord's broker partners.

The CMO will lead a head office team of direct reports, be accountable for the annual marketing budget, and collaborate closely with the marketing teams within Broker Partners across Canada.

The role will support M&A activities, rebranding initiatives, and corporate communications (internal and external), including press releases and key announcements. The successful candidate will also work to enhance Navacord's employee value proposition and increase brand awareness in a competitive marketplace.

The leader will be a key contributor to "One Culture" initiatives such as diversifying sales, lifelong learning, and fostering unity within the organization, and will serve on the Executive One Culture Council.

REPORTING TO: Senior Vice President, Capital Markets & Corporate Strategy

RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national marketing strategy aligned with Navacord's growth objectives.
  • Lead and mentor the corporate marketing team (Design Lead, Communications Lead, and eventual Digital Marketing Lead).
  • Build a community of marketing experts across the broker partner network, fostering collaboration and consistency.
  • Champion "One Culture" initiatives, including diversity, lifelong learning, and unity across the organization.
  • Oversee the annual marketing plan and budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and performance measurement

Brand, Communications, and Thought Leadership

  • Lead rebranding initiatives and ensure cohesive messaging across all channels and broker partners.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including press releases, company announcements, and digital content.
  • Drive thought leadership through whitepapers, webinars, newsletters, and industry engagement.
  • Oversee trademark management and public relations to enhance Navacord's reputation

Sales Support & Business Enablement

  • Collaborate with sales leaders to develop targeted marketing campaigns that drive client acquisition and retention.
  • Support broker partners with sales collateral, proposals, and digital content.
  • Promote cross-sell opportunities and broker partner collaboration.

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Support

  • Support marketing aspects of M&A activities, including integration, rebranding, and communications.
  • Provide expertise during due diligence and post-merger integration.

Client Communications and Experience

  • Develop strategies to build trust, strengthen relationships, and showcase Navacord's offerings.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance client experience, loyalty, and engagement.

Market Research and Competitor Analysis

  • Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends, emerging product opportunities, and competitive dynamics.
  • Leverage insights from customer analytics to inform strategic decisions on pricing, positioning, and promotional efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in a national or multi-regional role within the insurance or financial services sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in marketing insurance products or professional services is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading brand awareness campaigns, with a strong understanding of both traditional and digital marketing strategies.
  • Familiarity with M&A marketing, rebranding efforts, and internal/external corporate communications.
  • Experience generating actionable insights from disparate data across the enterprise.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across a decentralized network.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity, and a bias for action.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and leading through change and innovation.
