Our client, Roots of Empathy is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join their team.

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator plays a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant payroll operations across both Canadian and international teams. In this dynamic role, you'll manage end-to-end payroll processing, administer benefits and pension plans and support essential HR functions such as onboarding, file management, and contract oversight.

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration:

  • Process and manage payroll for Canadian and international employees accurately and on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and employment standards.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Provide orientation on payroll and benefits.
  • Conduct payroll analysis to identify year over year trends and support internal reporting.
  • Perform credit card analysis for staff with corporate cards and reconcile monthly statements.

Pension and Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and pension plans.
  • Act as the primary contact for benefits-related inquiries and liaise with providers.
  • Oversee the administration of the pension plan, including employee enrollments and updates.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain digital HR files, including payroll records, benefits documentation, and employee contracts.
  • Manage and oversee short-term contracts related to mentors, ensuring compliance and timely renewals.
  • Prepare and issue employment confirmation letters and related documentation upon request.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Human Resources.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification is an asset
  • Minimum three years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation
  • Familiarity with international payroll is an asset
  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Ceridian, Quickbooks)
  • Strong Excel and data management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
