Job Title: Terminal Operator Railcar

Job Summary

The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of railcar operations at the terminal. This includes adherence to terminal SSHE (Security, Safety, Health & Environmental) standards, product quality guidelines, and company policies. The role supports operational excellence and site integrity while fostering a safety-focused and team-oriented culture.

Summary of Responsibility

  • Ensures railcar operations are handled per PDM procedures and industry best practices.
  • Accountable for day-to-day operational decisions and the safety of assigned contractors.
  • Expected to make recommendations that improve safety, efficiency, or compliance.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum High School Diploma (Grade 12).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in refining or distribution environments.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote).
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Forklift operations
  • Boat operations (where applicable)

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Safety

  • Understands and complies with terminal SSHE policies and product quality standards.

Conducts all activities in compliance with client policies related to:

  • Operations Integrity
  • Human Resources
  • Product Quality
  • Business Controls
  • Environmental Regulations
  • Maintains familiarity with CFO work plans, lifesaving actions, and applicable T1BPs.
  • Actively participates in Health and Safety Meetings and the Personnel Safety Management System (PSMS) to prevent fatalities and life-altering injuries.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Pursues operational excellence in all tasks related to railcar product receipt.
  • Follows prescribed procedures from the operations manual and suggests improvements where applicable.
  • Performs TRT/SAP maintenance assignments, including closure documentation.
  • Writes work permits as requested.
  • Provides initial response to emergency incidents at the terminal, including upline notifications.
  • Performs other tasks as aligned with supervisor to support terminal operations.

Security & Site Oversight

  • Ensures site security through daily site inspections.
  • Oversees contractor activities on site, including:
  • Issuing daily work permits.
  • Ensuring contractor safety compliance within area of responsibility.

Work Environment

  • Terminal-based operations with a focus on industrial safety and environmental protection.
  • Requires hands-on work, including physical inspections and emergency response readiness.
