POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting directly to the President & CEO of Pitcher & Doyle, this role is responsible for overseeing daily underwriting operations, business development, strategic growth, and performance across all product lines. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the insurance industry, particularly within the dealership sector, along with a proven track record of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and business development. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving profitable growth, ensuring underwriting standards are met, and aligning operations with the company's strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
  • Work closely with the President & CEO to bring together various Navacord partners to create a streamlined P & D brand across the country.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align underwriting operations with the company's strategic goals.

Underwriting Operations:

  • Oversee the underwriting process to ensure adherence to company guidelines and regulatory requirements including internal audit.
  • Monitor underwriting performance metrics and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure risk assessments are accurate and aligned with market trends and company appetite.

Innovation and Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes through technology, analytics, and training.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and implement best practices, policies, and procedures for underwriting operations.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Vice President to develop new product offerings and overall product development to drive organic growth.
  • Represent underwriting in discussions with external partners, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to executive leadership on underwriting performance and regulatory matters.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of underwriting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk management, and insurance regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute underwriting strategies that drive profitability.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams.
  • Experience with underwriting technology and data analytics tools is a plus.
  • CIP and or CRM Designation or working towards is an asset
  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience working in property, casualty and specialty lines.
  • Dealership / Garage lines and programs experience is required.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
