What you'll be doing
Join our Global Markets team as a Student Analyst in this 4-month role and become part of a team focused on delivering innovative banking and investment solutions to CIBC's retail, wealth, and business clients, including corporates, governments, and institutional clients worldwide. Our goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and to build our brand across North America and globally-living our values as we work toward our vision to lead in client relationships.
Our Global Markets business includes sales, trading, structuring, and research teams working with cash and derivative products in foreign exchange, commodities, rates, and equities, as well as securitization, prime brokerage, money markets, and more. We are recognized for our capabilities and leadership and are committed to investing in technology and talent for scalable growth.
You will gain experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Wealth Solutions
- Prime Services
- Government Solutions
- Fixed Income/Money Markets
- Commodities
- Electronic Trading
- Equities
- Foreign Exchange
Work will be on-site full-time to enable the most productive environment for you.
Important information
- You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, STEM, or related fields, with graduation no earlier than April 2026.
- Preference for students with technical backgrounds (Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).

How you'll succeed
- Passion for financial markets: Demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills, with a keen interest in markets and a record of academic and extracurricular success.
- Process-oriented: Present analysis, financial modeling, and research to support senior professionals and identify opportunities.
- Communication: Use effective written, oral, and presentation skills to explain complex concepts.
- Relationship management: Exhibit interpersonal skills, integrity, and teamwork.
Who you are
- You have demonstrated interest in Capital Markets through coursework, clubs, or experience.
- You are proficient in Excel, with experience in Python, VBA, or SQL as assets.
- You enjoy analyzing data and communicating insights.
- You are motivated, capable of multitasking, and thrive in dynamic environments.
- You value collaboration, integrity, and client service.
