About the Role
Peter I. Waldmann Professional Corporation is a sole practitioner civil litigation firm handling a wide range of complex legal matters, including class actions, tortious claims, contractual disputes, and solicitor negligence. As our Articling Student, you will gain practical, hands-on experience across all stages of litigation in a fast-paced and supportive environment. Success in this role means being adaptable, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong willingness to learn and contribute meaningfully to the progression of files. You will play an integral role in the day-to-day operation of the practice and will be directly involved in litigation strategy and client work.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, factums, legal memoranda, and other court-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and provide concise, well-reasoned analysis.
- Participate in client meetings, hearings, mediations, discoveries, pre-trials, and trials.
- Manage the lawyer's calendar and schedule key litigation events.
- Prepare legal correspondence and maintain client files.
- Communicate with clients in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with billing and occasional dictation tasks.
Qualifications
- Registered in the Law Society of Ontario's Lawyer Licensing Process and eligible to article.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Initiative-driven and eager to learn.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
