We are seeking an experienced Deputy General Counsel to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. They will play a key role in protecting the company's legal interests and managing complex legal issues.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Advice: Provide strategic legal advice to the management and various departments of the company.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate various types of contracts, including sales, purchase, partnership, and licensing agreements.
- Litigation: Manage litigation, disputes and product recalls including coordinating with external lawyers and regulatory authorities.
- Anti-trust: Experience in advising in anti-trust/competition matters
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations, including environmental and safety standards including those that govern consumer packaged goods and privacy laws in Canada, United Sates and Europe
- Risk Management: Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Internal Policies: Develop and implement internal legal policies and procedures to ensure effective governance.
- Training: Provide training and legal advice to employees to raise awareness of relevant legal issues.
- Negotiations: Represent the company in complex negotiations with business partners, suppliers, and customers.
Qualifications:
- Law Degree: LL.B. or equivalent.
- Bar Admission: Admission to a Canadian or US Bar.
- Experience: No less than 3 years in private practice, minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably with extensive experience in the CPG manufacturing sector.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in an understandable manner.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Ethics and Integrity: Strong sense of ethics and integrity, with a commitment to the highest professional standards.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex situations and develop innovative legal solutions.
