Investment Associate, Total Fund Management - Portfolio Analytics & Modelling

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Investment Associate to join our Total Fund Management (TFM) department in the Portfolio Analytics & Modelling (PAM) team. The role involves developing analytical tools and systems to support portfolio management, acting as a bridge between TFM and IT to ensure system integration, and gaining insights into portfolio construction within a large institutional setting.

Team Collaboration

You will collaborate with various teams within TFM, including Strategic Asset Allocation, Portfolio Strategy, Treasury, and Beta & Global Trading, to develop and implement analytical solutions. This involves understanding business needs, optimizing IT resources, and working with developers to build solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Enhance and maintain the internal investment strategy code base for analytical tools used by TFM.
  2. Identify areas for system improvements and introduce innovative ideas related to computing, AI, and machine learning.
  3. Understand portfolio construction and the supporting systems/technologies.
  4. Provide insights and prioritize resources for IT projects supporting TFM functions.
  5. Develop code supporting various functions such as portfolio analytics, risk analysis, reporting, database management, and system monitoring.
  6. Implement best practices in software engineering, including code quality and maintainability.
  7. Mentor and support new graduates and interns.
  8. Stay passionate and curious about investing and technology applications in finance.
  9. Keep abreast of market trends and software engineering advancements.
  10. Engage with team members for continuous learning and debate.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; CFA is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in finance-related software engineering.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C#, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and financial data providers.
  • Experience in modeling, optimization, and risk systems is advantageous.
  • Proven project management skills from requirements to deployment.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving abilities and a passion for finance and technology.
