Our client, a well-established construction organization, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Specialist to support and enhance workplace health and safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety legislation, coordinating inspections, leading incident investigations, and promoting a culture of safety excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated safety professional with experience in the construction or industrial sector.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and compliance of the company's health and safety program across all project sites.
- Conduct regular field visits and site inspections to assess risk and enforce safety policies.
- Develop and audit Site Safety Management Plans and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and track legislated safety training.
- Maintain and update electronic safety documentation, hazard inventories, and training records.
- Act as liaison with regulatory bodies and external consultants for audits and inspections.
- Support return-to-work programs and manage modified duties for injured employees.
- Advise management on legislative updates and safety best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in occupational health and safety within a construction or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and WSIB regulations.
- Safety training certifications are strong assets.
- Strong communication skills.
- Valid Ontario driver's license with ability to travel to project sites if needed.
