We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Real Estate & Facilities to lead and oversee strategic initiatives across our extensive portfolio of locations in Canada. In this pivotal role, you will drive facility operations, real estate management, security, and environmental health and safety programs while collaborating with internal leaders and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will bring innovative solutions, strong leadership skills, and a vision for optimizing our facilities and real estate portfolio to support the organization's business strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead negotiations with landowners and agents regarding acquisitions and lease renewals.
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to facilitate seamless transactions.
- Conduct analysis of real estate trends and provide executive leadership with accurate forecasts and insights.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations impacting real estate approvals.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to build and nurture a high-performing team.
- Provide coaching and career development opportunities for direct reports to achieve operational excellence.
- Foster engagement and collaboration within the Facilities team while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Use expertise in space planning, design, and construction project management to oversee renovations and build-out efforts.
- Manage capital planning and associated budgets for all space-related initiatives.
- Establish security processes, such as building access controls, CCTV systems, photo identification, and parking management.
- Collaborate with local site leaders and vendors to ensure sustainable security services are maintained.
- Lead efforts on emergency and business continuity management programming.
- Provide leadership and oversight for programs related to biological hygiene, chemical safety, waste management, and emergency management.
- Collaborate with workplace health and safety committees to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations and standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in facilities management, real estate, business administration, engineering, or related field (a Master's degree is considered a plus).
- 8 plus years of experience in facilities management, real estate operations, and/or engineering leadership roles.
- Proven ability to manage construction, renovations, and lease execution processes.
- Strong financial acumen, including expertise in budgeting and cost management.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated success in driving business continuity, security, and environmental health and safety programs.
