Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sales and Logistics Manager to join our dynamic team. Prior industry experience in a people-managing position is a requirement. In this role, you will be responsible for managing incoming sales opportunities, coordinating logistics, and developing relationships with customers, drivers and carriers. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring timely and efficient movement of freight while maximizing profitability and service quality. Hybrid work model at our office in Calgary with 2-3 days in office per week with the flexibility to work remotely or from home.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Opportunity Evaluation:

Sort through incoming emails and identify worthwhile opportunities to pursue, submitting quotes and availability for spot bids.

2. Order Management:

Enter new orders and update the status of current shipments, ensuring timely communication with customers, particularly during unexpected events.

3. Relationship Development:

Build and maintain strong relationships with drivers and carriers, understanding their preferences, capabilities, and equipment to optimize load opportunities.

4. Freight Monitoring:

Monitor load boards for new freight opportunities, acting promptly on those well-suited for our capacity by contacting posted contacts to establish terms for shipment movement.

5. Collaboration with Sales:

Work closely with the sales team to determine the best strategies for moving customer freight efficiently.

6. Negotiation:

Negotiate with customers, brokers, drivers, and carriers to achieve optimal service levels and maximize profit margins.

7. Border Clearance Procedures:

Coordinate the customs clearance for cross-border shipments for our drivers, including the handling of T&E Bond issuance and arrivals.

Characteristics of a Great Candidate:

  • 2 Years experience in open-deck transportation operations or dispatch and familiarity with freight brokerage, load boards, and transportation logistics.
  • Experience in the oversize and heavy haul space.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong ability to use organizational skills to plan tasks effectively and use forward thinking to predict future changes and adapt accordingly.
  • Strong comprehension of various transportation methods and modes.
  • Ability to manage and minimize risks associated with ambiguity.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, TMS, and CRM systems).
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn quickly and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and remotely.
