Senior AWS Developer

Contract Term: 4 months, renewable
Work Location: Calgary, AB;

Our client, a global leading IT company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior AWS Developer to join our DataHub Domain Team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS services, particularly in serverless and managed services, and a strong background in Kafka. This role requires a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a self-starter attitude. You will work closely with a Solution Architect and another AWS Developer to understand our current architecture and contribute to the design and development of future solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect and other team members to understand existing architecture, solutions, and patterns.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient AWS solutions using serverless and managed services.
• Utilize AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, API Gateway, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, S3, Athena, ECS, ECR, Fargate, CloudWatch, Glue, WAF, CloudFront, and Cognito.
• Manage networking and security configurations, including IAM, VPC, and Security Groups.
• Write Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and TypeScript, with a focus on AWS CDK for DataHub.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions to automate deployment processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Support the design and development of future solutions, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of applications.

Technical Skills Required:
• AWS Expertise: Extensive experience with AWS serverless and managed services, including but not limited to:
Lambda ,DynamoDB, Step Functions, API Gateway, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, S3, Athena, ECS, ECR, Fargate, CloudWatch, Glue, WAF, CloudFront, Cognito
• Networking and Security: Strong understanding of IAM, VPC, and Security Groups.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in Terraform and TypeScript is a must.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with AWS CDK.
• CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with GitHub and GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong experience in AWS development, with a focus on serverless architectures.
• Proven experience with Kafka and its integration within AWS environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
