Senior Manager, Human Resources & Payroll
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader to join our client's leadership team as a Senior Manager, Human Resources & Payroll. This strategic, high-impact role is designed for a forward-thinking professional who thrives at the intersection of human resources management, payroll administration, and organizational transformation.
As a trusted advisor to leadership, you will drive policies and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, ensure compliance, and optimize workforce operations across Canada. You will lead with bold ideas, proactive execution, and a passion for shaping workplace culture, ensuring that our client remains at the forefront of industry best practices.
Beyond managing payroll functions and HR operations, you will champion talent development, performance management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, fostering a thriving and inclusive workplace. Your ability to communicate with influence, think critically, and implement innovative solutions will be pivotal in strengthening our client's position as a leader in real estate and corporate excellence.
This position offers a competitive base salary hiring range of $100,000 - $130,000, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals
- Provide expert guidance to senior management and stakeholders, influencing decision-making with strategic HR insights
- Develop and implement forward-thinking HR policies and processes aligned with Canada's evolving legislative framework
- Champion performance management programs that enhance employee engagement, productivity, and retention
- Drive recruitment and talent acquisition efforts, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce
- Manage sensitive employee relations matters with discretion, conducting investigations and fostering a positive workplace culture
- Administer and optimize internal HR programs, including wellness initiatives, training reimbursements, and recognition programs
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics, reporting trends that support data-driven decision-making
- Stay informed on labour laws and evolving employment standards, ensuring company compliance
Payroll Management & Compliance:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring timely and accurate processing of salaries, benefits, deductions, and remittances
- Manage payroll compliance across Canada, ensuring adherence to federal and provincial labour standards, taxation requirements, and reporting mandates
- Lead the annual payroll budgeting process, working closely with finance teams to align compensation strategies with business objectives
- Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and system upgrades to maintain data integrity and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with finance and HR teams to implement payroll policies that optimize cost-effectiveness while enhancing employee satisfaction
- Ensure accurate year-end payroll filings, including T4s, ROEs, and tax remittances
- Stay updated on payroll legislation, tax laws, and emerging trends to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate risks
- Provide payroll support and guidance to employees, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Implement payroll best practices across multiple locations in Canada, standardizing procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
Strategic HR Initiatives & Workplace Innovation:
- Develop and implement workforce planning strategies to align talent acquisition with organizational goals
- Design and oversee professional development programs that enhance employee skill sets and leadership capabilities
- Lead DEI efforts, ensuring policies and programs foster an inclusive workplace culture
- Develop strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and long-term retention
- Evaluate and implement HR systems that streamline payroll, recruitment, and employee management
- Assess compensation structures to ensure competitiveness and compliance with industry benchmarks
- Support managers in addressing workplace conflicts, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing HR and payroll functions
- Proven experience in mentoring and developing team members, creating a culture of learning, accountability, and growth
- Payroll expertise, including end-to-end processing, compliance, and budgeting-experience with ADP systems is required
- A critical thinker with exceptional analytical skills, capable of identifying challenges, developing innovative solutions, and implementing strategies for long-term success
- A passion for driving process enhancements and operational efficiencies while promoting a culture of learning and growth. Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving business environments and embrace change as an opportunity for innovation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at all levels
- Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal teams, institutional owners, and external partners
