This is a primarily remote role in Downtown Toronto.

You will be working at a growing, Toronto-based startup in the media industry. Their products are used worldwide, and your role will be key in their team. You will shape the technical vision and guide the architecture.

What you will do and how you will make an impact

• Develop and maintain user-facing applications using PHP, JavaScript and AWS

• Assess the current systems and architecture, and identify and implement areas for improvement

• Build scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions with a team of software developers

• Be a technical mentor for the team, and champion a collaborative work environment

• You have previous experience as a Senior Software Developer

• You are adaptable, and like a startup environment

• You can work collaboratively in a team, and foster a culture of continual improvement

• You are primarily a backend (PHP) developer, who is familiar with JavaScript

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development

• Proven experience as a backend software developer. Previous experience with PHP and Laravel will be helpful.

• Previous experience with cloud infrastructure, and AWS in particular

• Understanding of database design and optimization
