About the Role:
Avicanna's Sales Team is looking for a driven and energetic Sales Rep (Intern) to drive sales & business development and represent the Avicanna brands with retailers in the legal Ontario adult-use cannabis market. This will include maintaining existing retailer relationships, establishing new retailer relationships, driving product distribution & sales, and acting as a brand ambassador (for Viola and Rho Phyto) professionally - both in-market and at industry events.

We are seeking highly-motivated business development interns who are driven, ambitious, competitive, resilient, can think critically and analytically, are self-starters, independent, entrepreneurial, solution-oriented, and has potential full-time ambitions to join our sales team, working with our commercial portfolio province-wide. This role is responsible for driving in-market sales efforts and brand representation within the adult-use channel. We are looking for a person who is passionate about the benefits of cannabis from medical, wellness and lifestyle perspectives with experience in customer service and who is motivated by the challenge of contributing to a growing portfolio of brands.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive Adult-Use Sales in either GTA, Ontario West, or Ontario East
- Work with the Sales Manager to create and execute on a route plan, visiting legal Ontario cannabis retailers to drive product sales and ROI
- Hit and exceed projected sales targets, based on past sales and future targets
- Assess and execute on new merchandising opportunities at the retailer level
- Track retailer engagement (store outreach, soft commitments, success of load-in/sell-through, POS materials, etc.) and cultivate relationships with store owners, managers and budtenders
- Participate in "Pop-ups" and Product Knowledge (PK) Sessions with retailers (onsite and virtually) to support new product launches and product sell-through with key retailers
- Participate in industry events and represent Avicanna in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Some account management and retail sales experience
- Post-secondary education in a Cannabis program, in Commerce, in Marketing, in Biology or in a related discipline is a plus
- Existing cannabis retail network / experience is a plus
- Valid Ontario driver's license and CannSell certification (CannSell can be completed within 1 day)
- Basic understanding of cannabis - strains, effects, methods of consumption, accessories
- Strong organizational skills to manage all inputs and track sales efforts + time management skills
- Skilled at identifying opportunities, opening doors, building rapport with prospects/partners and understanding business requirements of decision makers
- A proactive self-starter attitude, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment
