As a key member of our Innovation and Technology Group, your strategic and technical leadership will guide the design, delivery, and evolution of high-impact digital platforms, including mobile experiences, loyalty engagement tools, real-time guest-facing systems, and advanced passenger journey solutions. You'll help us push the boundaries of what an airport experience can be, seamless, intuitive, and deeply human.

Position overview

Reporting to the Director, Software Development & Digital Channels, the Manager, Digital Channels provides strategic technical ownership of YVR's public-facing digital platforms. This includes oversight of web, mobile, and real-time experience solutions that span the digital journey from curb to gate and beyond. Working closely with teams across the airport, this role leads the delivery of scalable, secure, and innovative technologies that elevate both the passenger experience and operational performance. You'll also play a role in the future commercialization of in-house innovations, helping to define and shape digital assets that may serve other airports or industry partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Help Defining and executing a multi-year digital platform strategy that positions YVR as an innovation leader in global aviation.
  • Leading technical delivery of mobile, web, and guest-facing digital systems through Agile teams and modern DevOps practices.
  • Shaping the future of personalization, loyalty, and real-time information delivery across digital environments.
  • Ensuring digital solutions meet the highest standards for security, accessibility, performance, and scalability.
  • Overseeing platform architecture and vendor partnerships across a range of integrated digital systems.
  • Championing human-centered design, operational efficiency, and digital service excellence in everything we deliver.
  • Building and mentoring a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, analysts, and strategists.
  • Representing YVR at external events, forums, and with industry collaborators, showcasing our leadership in digital transformation.

Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in digital innovation, with substantial experience in passenger-facing digital solutions.
  • Proven track record as a senior leader in large-scale digital transformations within complex operational environments such as aviation, transportation, retail, or hospitality.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern web and mobile frameworks (React, Angular, Flutter, Swift), content management systems (Sitecore, WordPress), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and best practices in DevOps.
  • Strong expertise in digital signage and wayfinding solutions and operational technology integration.
  • Certifications in Agile Leadership, Scrum Master, Enterprise Architecture, UX/UI Design, Project Management (PMP), or ITIL preferred.

This role will primarily operate from YVR offices and may require occasional travel and participation at industry events and forums.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external candidates. Previous job performance will be considered for all internal applicants.

Salary Range : Salary Range: $102,880 to $154,320 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
