Our client, a leader in flexible packaging is looking for a talented prepress manager to join their team in Brampton. This hands-on leadership role requires in-depth knowledge of design, print production, and pre-press workflows. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end pre-press and graphics workflow to ensure timely and accurate job execution.
- Supervise and support a team of plate mounters, plate makers, and pre-press technicians, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
- Oversee maintenance and effective use of design/pre-press software and hardware, including RIP systems and proofing devices.
- Coordinate production schedules, work orders, and resource planning to align with departmental and customer needs.
- Review and prepare artwork for production, ensuring compliance with client specifications and print readiness.
- Conduct quality checks on colour correction, trapping, distortion, and other pre-press adjustments.
- Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, output volumes, and QC measures.
- Proactively troubleshoot pre-press issues, collaborating with internal teams and clients to resolve problems swiftly.
- Manage inventory of pre-press supplies and materials to ensure seamless operations.
- Review and sign off on final proofs, ensuring accuracy and production feasibility.
- Stay current with industry trends, software innovations, and emerging technologies to improve department capabilities.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure job accuracy and timely delivery.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role within graphic design or pre-press, ideally in flexible packaging or a related manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of pre-press software and systems, including ArtPro+, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office 365, and ERP systems (D365 preferred).
- Expertise in trapping techniques, colour theory, RIP systems, and flexographic/lithographic print preparation.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and engage stakeholders.
- Proven ability to resolve technical and process issues under pressure.
- Familiarity with Esko software is a strong asset.
- Must pass colour vision and hue tests; mechanical aptitude testing may be required.
