In anticipation of a project that will commence in the summer of 2025, we are seeking candidates for the role of Health and Safety Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, technical support and advice on all aspects of H&S; help assess the implementation of the H&S Program within the workplace, and as required, developing and/or providing related training.
Responsibilities:
- Develop health and safety policies, practices, procedures, standards and programs for employee and passenger activities
- Oversee regulatory affairs; and emergency preparedness, ensuring business continuity systems are in place
- Ensures fulfillment of H&S requirements at construction site, following health and safety (H&S) plan in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements and Government regulations
- Prepares weekly and monthly statistical H&S reports
- Provides assistance in the implementation and update of the health and safety plan
- Provides assistance in identification of risks and definition of control measures (through safe work procedure, Job Safety Analysis, field level hazard assessments)
- Carries out and records regular safety audits and safety inspections
- Provides assistance in Tool-box talks
- Records and investigates accidents and incidents; performs Root Cause Analysis on H&S issues
- Coordinates health and safety, aspects of site activities
- Provides site specific orientation training
- Coordinates First Aid rescue, First Aid responders and Fire Protection programs
- Ensures ISO 45001 and COR programs are maintained at site
- Coordinates with Workers Compensation as required
Qualifications and Education:
- Proven experience as Health and Safety Manager
- 7+ years of experience leading a major construction project
- Must be knowledgeable of the following construction Health and Safety Officer: NCSO-IHSA; or Canadian Registered Professional (CRSP); or demonstrated equivalent
- Diploma/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Must be trained in and/or have knowledge of EHS Management Systems including ISO 45001 and COR certification programs
- Must have completed a recognized First Aid course/CPR
- Must have a strong understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and implementation in a construction environment.
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
