Position Overview
The Communications Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping the club's public image, engaging with media, and ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all platforms. Reporting directly to the club's executive leadership, this position is responsible for developing and executing communications strategies that enhance the club's visibility, strengthen media relationships, and engage fans and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Public Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for media relations, drafting press releases, coordinating press events, and managing media inquiries.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and national media to ensure extensive coverage of the club.
- Monitor media coverage and provide media training to key club representatives as needed.
- Handle crisis communications, ensuring messaging aligns with the club's values and objectives
- Oversee press conferences and media relations on gameday
Communications Strategy & Messaging
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the club's goals and enhances its public profile.
- Establish and maintain a consistent tone of voice for Vancouver Rise FC across all communications.
- Ensure clear and effective internal and external communications, including messaging for club leadership, players, and partners.
Content & Digital Communications
- Oversee the creation of written content, including press materials, website updates, newsletters, and official statements.
- Manage the club's website and social media channels to ensure accurate and engaging content.
- Collaborate with creative teams to develop compelling stories and features that highlight the club's players, initiatives, and achievements.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate communications with key stakeholders, including league representatives, sponsors, and community partners.
- Support fan engagement initiatives through strategic storytelling and effective messaging.
- Represent the club at events, press conferences, and other public engagements as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably in sports, entertainment, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with media outlets and managing press relations.
- Knowledge of digital media trends and experience managing social media communications.
- Passion for women's sports and a deep understanding of the sports media landscape.
- Must be available to work on game days (weekends or evenings)
