RTS is seeking a talented full-time, permanent Control Systems Programmer with at least 5 years of proven experience executing Industrial, electrical utility, and municipal water/wastewater control software automation projects.
The role will include programming and deployment of PLC/SCADA/Historians and working with new technologies such as MQTT, IIOT, shopfloor networks, MES, etc. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in developing advanced PLC control logic and SCADA applications with Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, and GE technology.
Main Responsibilities:
- Write new system application PLC/SCADA program code using prescribed specifications and control narratives to specific Customer standards and requirements.
- Develop, implement, test, and deploy SCADA programming, databases, and graphic screens using relevant software (Proficy iFix, Rockwell Factory View, Wonderware, WinCC, Ignition)
- Develop FAT/SAT documentation, as well as execute FAT/SAT for projects according to specifications.
- Experience with SEL programmable controllers, specifically SEL-2240 RTAC and SEL-2440 DPAC, as well as protection relays (Alstom, Schneider, GE), would be considered an asset.
- Analyze the performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies or improve the operational effectiveness of the system based on consultation with end users.
- Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs while maintaining an "out of scope" log to capture project extras.
- Write and maintain programming and project documentation.
- Provide training and mentorship for junior programming resources.
- Provide programming effort estimation for new projects by reviewing project contract documents
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of electrical utilities, municipal water and wastewater processes, and general industrial manufacturing automation controls
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, process & instrumentation drawings and control system project specifications
- CSA/UL/CE standards knowledge is an asset
