This position is a 14 month contract role. The Director of Merchandising is responsible for driving the strategic vision, planning, and execution of the merchandise assortment. This role oversees category management, product selection, pricing, inventory planning, and performance analysis to ensure the achievement of sales, margin, and inventory goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies that support brand vision, financial objectives, and customer expectations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of supply chain analysts, planners, and category managers.
  • Inform, based on data, the product assortment strategy- evaluate and recommend new products and collections across key categories.
  • Partner with Marketing, Design, Planning, and E-commerce teams to create cohesive product stories across all channels.
  • Work in close partnership with the Finance team to align on purchasing budgets, manage cash flow efficiently, and optimize inventory investment
  • Analyze sales performance, consumer trends, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Oversee seasonal product planning, forecasting, and markdown strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Drive vendor relationships and negotiations to ensure strong product offerings and healthy margins.
  • Collaborate on inventory management strategies to reduce overstock and optimize stock turn.
  • Present seasonal merchandising plans to senior leadership and align on key initiatives.
  • Stay on top of emerging trends, customer insights, and innovation in merchandising and retail.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field. MBA a plus.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in merchandising, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in assortment planning, pricing strategy, and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and team development experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with analytics and inventory tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
  • Strong business acumen, creative sensibility, and a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, e-commerce environment.
