Construction Inspector

Full-time

Contract - 6 months

Work Type: 75% Field / 25% Office

We're seeking Construction Inspectors to support station construction projects. In this role, you'll ensure construction work is completed safely, meets quality standards, and minimizes disruptions to the public. You'll also support contract management and project coordination from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of construction sites to verify compliance with plans and safety standards.
  • Track contractor performance, document progress, and report issues or deficiencies.
  • Review construction drawings and provide feedback on design, safety, and public impact.
  • Assess site conditions before construction and recommend solutions for potential issues.
  • Validate completed work, ensure accuracy of project documentation, and support final project handover.
  • Participate in inspections and walk-throughs to ensure any issues are corrected before project closeout.
  • Assist with managing contracts, reviewing tender documents, and resolving performance or payment issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Review and monitor safety plans and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain a strong focus on public safety and service quality during construction.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, applied science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction inspection or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and construction standards (e.g., OHSA, OPSS, MTO Book 7).
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and contract law (e.g., CCDC 2, CCDC 4).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of railway safety and operations is preferred.
