TCI Canada GENERAL MANAGER

Perform functions to manage the day-to-day operations of the TC Canada facilities including manufacturing, production control and office administration.

Under administrative direction:

  1. Reviews customer business activities by analyzing trends, seasonality, and industry data to help determine the steel purchasing and manufacturing strategies of the Company.
  2. Establish and/or assist in setting company goals, monitor progress, and recommend programs to achieve goals.
  3. Assist sales department during sales meetings with OEM customers providing technical information and scheduling timelines.
  4. Ensure the execution of special projects and assignments directed by the president.
  5. Direct all aspects of production, establish master schedule, resolve manufacturing problems and assist employees in assignments.
  6. Write, implement, and enforce company work rules and policies for TCIC/TCIC(W).
  7. Direct annual physical inventory and reporting processes.
  8. Have knowledge of technology related to computerization.
  9. Establish and prepare personnel for management succession program.
  10. Prepare Operating/Capital Budgets and define methods to achieve desired results.
  11. Report sales, costs and profitability results each month to company President.
  12. Set objectives to control major cost items and ensure methods are in place to achieve them.
  13. Communicate to employees all aspects of the company business at least (4) times per year.
  14. Establish, document, and maintain a quality system based on ISO 9000 program.
  15. Insist on attention being given to all matters of safety to provide the best and safest work environment.

Responsible to manage all employees in TCIC/TCIC(W) through subordinate supervisors and managers. Hires, trains, assists employees, enforces company policies, establishes performance standards and. evaluates employee status.

Perform other related duties as assigned. Reports to: Vice President of Worldwide Operations

GENERAL MANAGER

KNOWLEDGE:

Broad knowledge of a discipline, such as business. Equivalent to a complete college or university education.

EXPERIENCE:

Over 7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

Difficult work on highly involved and technical projects. Manage day to day operations of TCIC/TCIC(W)

including manufacturing, production control and office administration. Duties require broad conceptual judgement to direct manufacturing activities, making decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Under administrative direction, establish own standard of performance within overall policy and budgetary limits, with direct accountability for final results, as with achievement of sales goals.

ERRORS:

Probable errors may involve major expenditures, resulting in the loss of important customer accounts, as with poor representation of Division at sales meetings.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Outside and inside contacts requiring the ability to deal with and influence persons in all types of positions, such as all TC Canada personnel, customers, executive management, which involves a high degree of diplomacy to maintain customer's business.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA:

Work with confidential data of major importance such as financial statements and proprietary business information which, if disclosed,' may be detrimental to the organization's interests.

MENTAL AND/OR VISUAL DEMAND:

Flow of work and character of duties to manage company involving normal mental and visual attention much or all the time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Good working conditions. Occasional exposure to elements such as odour, chemicals, dust, and noise.

CHARACTER OF SUPERVISION:

Direct and coordinate the operation of TC Canada departments through subordinate supervisors who are responsible for supervision over individual departments. Set standards of performance, check progress and ensure that organization policies are carried out.

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:

Responsible for supervising more than 50 but not over 100 persons.
