Position: Project Supervisor

Location: Whiteshell, Manitoba

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday (4-day workweek), 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

Duration: 1 Year (Renewable annually)

On-Site Requirement: Yes

Per Diem: $2000/month allowance. No relocation expense

Hourly Rate: $80 an hour

Role Overview:

The Project Supervisor will report to the Site Superintendent and lead the field execution of maintenance and decommissioning projects. This role is critical in ensuring safe work practices, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to schedule and cost objectives. The Supervisor will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, either dedicated or integrated via the WL Integrated Work Control Process, and must be adept at decision-making, communication, and leading under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Execution & Supervision

  • Lead field execution and ensure the safe and efficient completion of assigned projects.
  • Monitor daily field activities and provide updates to the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and/or oversee work permits, pre-job briefings, and post-job reviews.
  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for work site activities.
  • Support daily/weekly planning meetings and provide status updates.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate allocation of trained and qualified personnel.

Safety & Compliance

  • Foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Ensure all safety documentation (e.g., JSAs, WIPs, WPs, OTOS) is completed prior to field work.
  • Enforce compliance with work permits and safe work practices.
  • Halt unsafe work and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct or delegate pre- and post-job briefs to capture lessons learned.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain site and production logs, daily reports, and drawing sign-offs.
  • Prepare or contribute to accident and injury investigations.
  • Assist in preparing cost/resource estimates and progress reports.

Planning & Coordination

  • Translate working schedules into prioritized field tasks.
  • Coordinate with Planners, Engineers, and Operations to define project scope and manage change.
  • Resolve field issues and escalate technical concerns to subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Provide recovery plans and mitigate schedule slippage due to technical or resource issues.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • 2-year technical diploma, university degree, or Journeyperson trades certification with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
  • Diploma in Health & Safety is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including 5 years leading field work.
  • Proven track record in supervising projects across construction, remediation, demolition, and building maintenance.
  • Experience with radiological work is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary crews.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed, organized, and adaptable to high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to develop resource/cost estimates and manage multiple jobs concurrently.
  • Familiar with report development, work plans, RWPs, OTOs, etc.

Additional Duties & Deliverables:

  • Mentor field personnel and contribute to workforce development.
  • Provide operational experience (OPEX) relevant to current project phases.
  • Develop strategies to resolve technical or resource challenges.
  • Participate in strategic and financial decision-making to optimize productivity.
  • Support performance management processes, including timekeeping and reviews.
  • Promote and maintain positive team morale and high standards of performance.
