Assistant Regional Coordinator, Let's Talk Science Outreach (Greater Toronto Area)

The Assistant Regional Coordinator has a significant portion of their time assigned to managing a relationship with a community partner in North York (Near York University, Keele Campus) that will involve regular in-person visits to do outreach, as well as supporting the planning and logistics of outreach activities delivered by others. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Let's Talk Science Outreach program in sites in their region. This includes strengthening communications with post-secondary site coordinators; gathering information about site activities, opportunities, and challenges; coaching and mentoring wherever possible to assist site coordinators with their endeavours; sharing information between sites; creating a sense of community and working with the rest of the Youth and Volunteer Experience team to ensure overall program success. This position is also responsible for working with other members of the team to monitor and develop relationships with host post-secondary partners and working with community stakeholders to enhance the profile of Let's Talk Science in sites in their region.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, graduate degree in science, technology, engineering, math or education preferred
  • At least two years of experience in volunteer management and event planning; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional, including Microsoft Outlook
  • Understanding of the importance of science and technology to society
  • Bilingual (English and French) a strong asset
  • Previous involvement in Let's Talk Science Outreach an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth or underserved communities an asset
  • Willingness to travel to assigned site, conferences and staff meetings
  • Will be required to provide valid vulnerable sector screening or have one completed
