Role Overview:

Cassels is recruiting nationally (Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver) for a Solutions Architect in our Information Technology Department, reporting to the Assistant Director, Enterprise Applications. This role requires a candidate who will define the solutions application architecture and provide architectural guidance to delivery teams, bringing together enterprise architecture (EA) viewpoints such as business, application, information and technology architecture to design / implement solutions that deliver business value and enable the firm's data and information stay connected between applications and the systems are resilient and future fit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Assistant Director Enterprise Applications and the Chief Information Officer in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire services or systems, including applications, technologies, processes and information.
  • Understanding emerging technology trends and disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving business and operating models (stretch).
  • Consulting with application team leads to ensure connectivity of data between business applications and identify when it is necessary to modify designs to accommodate the solutions connected architecture.
  • Leading evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
  • Creating and maintaining architectural data flow designs to guide and contextualize solution development across applications.
  • Working closely with the project management office (PMO) to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product life cycle.
  • Designing and directing the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance, security and compliance.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to establish requirements and guide them to a useful solution.
  • Maintaining the Microsoft 365 Enterprise Applications stack (including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform).
  • Authoring and troubleshooting Microsoft Power Platform solutions.
  • Maintaining services within the Microsoft Azure Application ecosystem.
  • Staying updated with M365 stack development, new features, and relay new developments and their impact to IT management.
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing processes and automated workflows.
  • Providing advanced support for Microsoft 365 applications and services.
  • Contributing to the departmental Knowledgebase.
  • Ensuring that the incidents are resolved within established SLAs.
  • Maintaining a well-documented known state within our Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Continually reviewing and identifying processes and configurations to ensure that they meet expectations.
  • Modelling and cultivating behaviours that achieve business success, including collaboration, accountability, and ownership.
  • Developing new ideas for improving organizational performance.
  • On-call support will be required to deal with emergency support, outages, and updates.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they may be assigned.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working in an enterprise applications management and development with 3+ years of experience implementing and administering the Microsoft 365 suite including experience implementing and troubleshooting Microsoft Power Platform (Automate, BI, Microsoft Flow etc.).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical or infrastructure architecture, application development, database management and cloud implementation.
  • In-depth experience with the setup, configuration, and deployment of applications using Azure services, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Experience with the configuration and maintenance of Azure services.
  • Sound knowledge of data management and integration services.
  • SQL Server experience is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments.
  • Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of various artificial intelligence / machine learning frameworks (AI / ML).
  • Data savvy with knowledge of various aspects of a technology architecture such as integration, network and security.
  • Good understanding of information architecture principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of financial models in the professional services industry.
  • Proven analytical, planning, organizational, and technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with external developers and consultants.
  • Skilled at influencing, guiding and facilitating stakeholders and peers with decision making.
  • Ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and deliver effectively and efficiently.
