Stacey Danley at Aplin has partnered with our Winnipeg-based client, a growing family-owned construction business, on the search for the newly created role of Human Resources Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in building out the HR function to support the overall strategy of the business. The HR Manager will be the cornerstone of people operations: creating, leading, and evolving HR practices that support growth and culture. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting directly to the executive leadership team.

If you're a hands-on HR leader with a strategic mindset and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, we want to hear from you.

Benefits and Perks:

  • Build Something Real: Be the architect of people strategy.
  • Team-Oriented Culture: Our client values integrity, respect, and hard work-no corporate red tape.
  • Growth Opportunity: Your impact will be felt company-wide.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Our client is open to in-office or hybrid work arrangements. Please note full-time OR part-time hours may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Leadership & Strategy
    • Establish and lead the HR function from the ground up, aligning HR initiatives with business goals.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and senior leadership on people-related strategy and risk.
    • Participate in long-term workforce planning, budget forecasting, and organizational development.
  • Recruitment & Talent Management
    • Design and manage the full-cycle recruitment process, from sourcing to selection.
    • Build onboarding and offboarding processes that leave lasting impressions.
    • Implement performance management, succession planning, and internal development pathways.
  • Employee Relations & Culture
    • Act as the primary contact for employee relations matters-handle conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and investigations with professionalism and discretion.
    • Cultivate a positive and productive workplace culture through change management, engagement initiatives, and open-door communication.
    • Champion diversity, inclusion, and respect across job sites and office environments.
  • Policy, Compliance & Compensation
    • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that reflect company values and comply with labour laws.
    • Oversee benefits programs and compensation strategies; liaise with brokers and vendors for renewals and updates.
  • HR Systems & Reporting
    • Develop internal systems to maintain data accuracy, employee records, and reporting.
    • Track and analyze HR metrics to support data-driven decision-making and process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; CPHR designation is an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including team or project leadership.
  • Experience in construction or a similar industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations, implement policies, and drive cultural change.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

If you're ready to shape the HR function from the ground up and thrive in a dynamic, growing business-we're ready to meet you.
