Forge Recruitment is partnered with a prominent multi-service law firm located in downtown Toronto. We are currently looking for an Employment and Labour Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This firm has a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional legal services, and they are seeking a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, proofreading, serving, and filing legal documents
  • Providing transcription services
  • Managing multiple lawyers and their practices
  • Preparing special reports, including gathering and summarizing data
  • Maintaining both physical and electronic document systems
  • Preparing bills of costs
  • Calendar and email management
  • Exercising initiative to handle administrative details
  • Working with various software programs such as Caselines and ACL
  • Opening and closing files
  • Collaborating on larger projects with other legal assistants
  • Providing back-up support for colleagues during absences
  • Performing other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of strong litigation experience in the legal industry
  • Experience with the Human Rights Tribunal or the Ontario Labour Board is an asset
  • Ability to support multiple lawyers and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
  • In-depth understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage time and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of accounting and billing procedures
  • Completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma is an asset
