Forge Recruitment is partnered with a prominent multi-service law firm located in downtown Toronto. We are currently looking for an Employment and Labour Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This firm has a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional legal services, and they are seeking a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, proofreading, serving, and filing legal documents
- Providing transcription services
- Managing multiple lawyers and their practices
- Preparing special reports, including gathering and summarizing data
- Maintaining both physical and electronic document systems
- Preparing bills of costs
- Calendar and email management
- Exercising initiative to handle administrative details
- Working with various software programs such as Caselines and ACL
- Opening and closing files
- Collaborating on larger projects with other legal assistants
- Providing back-up support for colleagues during absences
- Performing other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of strong litigation experience in the legal industry
- Experience with the Human Rights Tribunal or the Ontario Labour Board is an asset
- Ability to support multiple lawyers and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
- In-depth understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage time and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and grow in the role
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong commitment to confidentiality
- Working knowledge of accounting and billing procedures
- Completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma is an asset
