Drew Carpentry is an established framing employer with over 12 years of experience in the construction sector in Southern Ontario. Operating primarily in the residential homebuilding sector, our team of skilled framers has completed projects across the GTA and Ontario, having contributed to over 100 million dollars in residential construction projects.
Role Description
The instructor will be responsible for providing training and guidance to framing students in the program, overseeing lesson plan creation, skills development, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The successful candidate must be able to teach in-person in July in Durham Region.
Duties:
- Using our resources, create a 2 week long, entry level framing program covering an array of framing and construction basics, including basic hand tools, power tool use, framing nailers, how to build a wall/ floor/ roof, squaring/ Pythagorean theorem.
- Teach the two-week course to a cohort of 20 students for two - four cohorts (depending on scheduling).
- Foster a productive and inclusive learning environment for participants of different backgrounds and abilities.
- Provide feedback to participants in real time.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction training and instruction/ teaching
- Ability to provide your own tools is a benefit, but not required
- Access to a reliable vehicle/ transportation mode
- Knowledge of framing techniques and safety practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively independently
