Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Job Location: London, ON

Shift Structure: Days (Must have flexibility to work on other shifts when needed)

Compensation: $75,000-$130,000; based on experience + benefits

Job Summary: We are hiring a Maintenance Manager to work with one of our food manufacturing clients in London, ON! This is a start-up company.The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of all equipment and systems in the manufacturing plant. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all maintenance activities, including preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs. This position is pivotal in minimizing downtime, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting various continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment

Responsibilities:

1. Preventative and Corrective Maintenance:

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all production equipment and plant systems.
  • Oversee corrective maintenance tasks to swiftly address equipment failures and reduce production interruptions and optimize plant productivity.

2. Team Leadership, Supervision and Coordination:

  • Lead, train, supervise, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and contractors.
  • Provide clear direction, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to the maintenance team.
  • Coordinate work assignments and collaborate with production supervisors to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Ensure clear communication with all relevant departments regarding maintenance schedules, downtime, and operational challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between maintenance team and plant management providing transparent reporting and feedback.

3. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all maintenance procedures comply with all regulatory requirements, including health and safety and food manufacturing standards.
  • Regularly review and update safety protocols, ensuring the team is trained and equipped to handle emergencies and hazardous situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and inspections.
  • Commit to ongoing training and professional development in maintenance best practices and safety protocols.

4. Budget and Resource Management:

  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources is maintained.
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of spare parts and maintenance supplies to avoid shortages and unnecessary downtime.

5. Emergency Response:

  • Develop and implement emergency repair procedures to address unexpected equipment failures.
  • Ensure rapid response to maintenance emergencies to minimize production disruptions.

6. Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze maintenance data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to enhance equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to upgrade and modernize maintenance practices and technologies to reduce operational costs.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including routine inspections, repairs, and any incidents.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on maintenance performance, highlighting successes and areas needed attention.

Skills/Qualifications:

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Knowledge & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food processing sector.
  • Proven experience in managing a maintenance team and coordinating large-scale maintenance projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems used in modern manufacturing plants.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and data analysis software.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory standards.
