About the opportunity

The CJN seeks an organized, creative, versatile, and passionate Marketing & Communications Coordinator to ensure The CJN's marketing efforts are executed with impact, excellence and efficiency. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be detail-oriented, able to multi-task with proficiency, and will possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You will use your talent to elevate the messaging of The CJN and engage The CJN's existing and prospective audience in meaningful ways.

The successful candidate will be responsible for The CJN's Marketing functions including, but not limited to social media, website, digital communications, and print advertising. This is a temporary, 12-week summer position with the opportunity to become a full-time opportunity.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications:

  • Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the General Manager on the day-to-day marketing functions of the organization
  • Support marketing and communications initiatives related to brand awareness, subscriber engagement, corporate advertising and community fundraising campaigns including but not limited to print, social media, digital media, and website updates
  • Leverage a strong understanding of social media platforms and trends to monitor and manage social media accounts. Develop content to ensure consistent messaging and engagement on various social channels
  • Assist in the management of content development, design process, project plans, work-back schedules and approvals for marketing materials including but not limited to direct mail, digital ads, email, websites, social media, events, and print materials
  • Take initiative by developing creative briefs to guide external creative teams on the development of marketing communications and collateral across all platforms
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the business, sales, creative, editorial and podcast teams to align content strategy and execution.
  • Gather, organize, and manage all required assets and coordinate delivery and approvals with internal and external partners
  • Develop and execute a social media strategy for the organization. Incorporate relevant keywords for search engine optimization
  • Use analytics to gauge the success of campaigns and develop reports
  • Coordinate and schedule brief-in meetings, brainstorm sessions, and creative presentations
  • Conduct research and build organized lists of prospective partners to engage to grow The CJN's audience/subscriber base
  • Support sales and business development initiatives through research, outreach, and lead tracking

Qualifications, Technical Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field or college diploma in Marketing / Communications
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, project management, or similar role
  • Excellent working knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. Experience in WordPress is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize work towards deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels within a team environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn new business processes and software
  • Understands the fundamentals of SEO and online advertising
  • Understanding of copywriting, marketing fundamentals, campaign development, lead generation and marketing promotion
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including a demonstrated ability to write for different platforms including email campaigns, websites and social media
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment and manage multiple responsibilities with competing and changing priorities

This is a short-term summer position with the possibility of the role becoming a full-time permanent position. The CJN is a fully remote work environment, with occasional in-person work meetings and planning sessions. The CJN closes on all Jewish holy days (yom tov).
