We are looking for a Content and Pedagogy Lead (English/ESL) with deep subject matter expertise, a strong foundation in English/ESL teaching and learning best practices, and a forward-thinking approach to pedagogy-especially in the evolving landscape of AI in education. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in English/ESL curriculum design, aligned with the Ontario Ministry of Education's high school curriculum.
As our resident expert in English/ESL curriculum and pedagogy, the Content Lead will drive the development of content that is rigorous, inclusive, engaging, and enhanced by AI. In addition to leading content creation and quality assurance, this role will collaborate closely with our Teacher Training & Implementation team-providing subject matter guidance, sharing instructional best practices, and supporting effective curriculum implementation in schools.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Content Creation
- Design, develop, and review high school English/ESL instructional content that aligns with curriculum standards, maintains academic rigor, and promotes student engagement.
- Create and adapt content to meet the Ontario Ministry of Education's secondary school curriculum expectations, ensuring it reflects best practices in teaching and learning.
- Develop instructional materials that foster durable skill development and incorporate forward-looking pedagogical approaches suited for an AI-driven future.
- Conduct content quality assurance using AI-enhanced tools to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness.
- Adapt content for diverse global education contexts, varying learner levels, and English language learners (ESL/EAL), ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
AI-Enhanced Pedagogical Innovation
- Champion the use of AI and emerging technologies to personalize and enrich teaching and learning.
- Stay current on trends in generative AI, adaptive learning systems, and data-informed instruction.
- Contribute to the development of frameworks and models for AI-ready learning environments.
Subject Matter Review & QA
- Conduct comprehensive SME reviews of English/ESL instructional materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, inclusivity, and pedagogical soundness.
- Implement quality assurance processes and use data/feedback to improve content iteratively.
Pedagogical Thought Leadership
- Serve as a resident expert on effective teaching and learning in English/ESL, ensuring content reflects best practices in pedagogy, assessment, and learner support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to elevate the pedagogical integrity of our courses.
- Stay current with research and trends in learning science, curriculum innovation, and technology-enabled instruction.
School Implementation & Educator Support
- Partner with the Teacher Training team to support school-level curriculum implementation.
- Contribute to educator-facing guidance materials, curriculum documentation, and select PD sessions or webinars.
- Offer strategic input on how schools and teachers can effectively use curriculum to maximize student learning outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education
- Additional training or certification in educational technology, instructional design, eLearning, or AI in education (preferred).
- Expertise in the following high school subject areas: English/ESL
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in high school eLearning curriculum development and minimum 3 years in classroom teaching experiences
- Demonstrated experience creating English/ESL content aligned to the Ontario Ministry of Education high school curriculum.
- In-depth understanding and genuine passion in evolved pedagogies and impact to teaching and learning in the age of AI
- Proven experience with digital content development tools and generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT etc.).
- Strong grasp of learning science principles and 21st-century skills.
- Exceptional written communication, project management, and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience with global K-12 curriculum frameworks (IB, IGCSE, AP, etc.) in addition to Ontario.
- Experience supporting professional development or curriculum implementation in schools
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital authoring platforms.
- Understanding of data-informed instruction and education analytics.
Work location policy
Hybrid. The candidate should be able and willing to commute to Rosedale's HQ Office in Markham at least two days a week.
