Job Description
The EOL Remediation Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects focused on the remediation of IT assets reaching their End-of-Life (EOL). This role will manage all aspects of the EOL remediation process, leveraging IT Asset Management (ITAM) best practices and utilizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. The Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth, secure, and compliant decommissioning and/or upgrade process, minimizing disruption to business operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience (10 years) in IT project management, with a focus on infrastructure or asset management projects.
Strong understanding of IT asset management principles and best practices.
Experience working with a Configuration Management Database (CMDB), preferably within the ServiceNow platform.
Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and control.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage cross-functional relationships.
Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance requirements related to EOL asset management.
PMP or other relevant project management certification is a plus.
Experience with ITIL framework.
Knowledge of data sanitization and hardware disposal standards.
Familiarity with various hardware and software technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Initiation and Planning:
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in alignment with organizational goals.
Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
Identify and document project dependencies, constraints, and assumptions.
Utilize the ServiceNow CMDB to identify EOL assets and assess the scope of remediation.
Stakeholder Management:
Identify and engage key stakeholders, including IT teams, business units, security, and compliance.
Establish and maintain effective communication channels, utilizing ServiceNow for notifications and workflows.
Define roles and responsibilities, documenting them within ServiceNow.
Facilitate regular project meetings and provide status updates to stakeholders.
Remediation Execution:
Develop and manage remediation plans, outlining specific actions for each EOL asset (e.g., upgrades, replacements).
Coordinate the execution of remediation activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
Address data migration, application compatibility, and other technical considerations.
Manage project resources, including internal teams and external vendors.
Track project progress, risks, and issues within ServiceNow.
Monitoring and Control:
Monitor project performance against plan, identifying and addressing any deviations.
Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
Track project financials, ensuring adherence to budget.
Provide regular project status reports to stakeholders, utilizing ServiceNow reporting capabilities.
Project Closure:
Ensure the secure and compliant decommissioning of EOL assets, including data sanitization and hardware disposal.
Update the ServiceNow CMDB to accurately reflect the status of remediated and decommissioned assets.
Document the decommissioning process within ServiceNow for audit and compliance purposes.
Conduct project post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and best practices.
