Position Overview:

As Senior Medical Writer/Lead you will support a variety of business functions to ensure successful strategy implementation and efficient operation of the medical team. You will be responsible for liaising with healthcare professionals to develop scientifically and clinically accurate medical content with autonomy and a strategic lens, leveraging your medical writing background and therapeutic area expertise. The Senior Medical Lead is expected to consistently represent as the medical subject matter expert within and outside of the organization to ensure scientific accuracy, fair balance, and quality.

In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally to plan and execute medical education and communications programs. This includes, but is not limited to, advisory boards, medical education programs, medical and training events, and publications. The Senior Medical Lead will also be a valuable resource and have a role in mentorship for junior team members, guiding them to CTC's standard of excellence.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage medical content, ensuring accuracy, quality and alignment with client strategy
  • Review materials for scientific accuracy and fair balance
  • Analyze new therapeutic areas and provide strategic input
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and internal teams for content creation
  • Coordinate program development and execution with clients and team members
  • Facilitate communication with clients and healthcare professionals
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and healthcare professionals
  • Coordinate with external contractors for content development
  • Manage compliance reviews using client software (e.g., Veeva)
  • Prepare written communications to various stakeholders
  • Handle submissions to ethics (e.g., IRB) and accrediting (e.g., CFPC) bodies
  • Contribute to timeline development and management, advising the team on how to prioritize deliverables and mitigate risk
  • Conduct literature searches to analyze therapeutic areas and support content development
  • Provide support to Account Team for client and faculty discussions
  • Mentor, train and coach junior team members to succeed in their role

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • At least three years experience in medical communications, ideally within an agency setting focused on medical education and advisory boards
  • An advanced degree in health science
  • Experience in creating and interpreting medical content
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting clinical data
  • Demonstrated leadership or coordination in projects
  • Ability to manage competing priorities without compromising timelines
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry is an asset
  • Essential skills: organizational proficiency, effective teamwork, prioritization
  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset
