About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, the Data Geologist is responsible for data entry and maintaining the geology database in support of geology production activities for Ascot Resources. The Data Geologist plays a crucial role in the mining industry by providing valuable insights and information based on geological data analysis. The Data Geologist will foster a health and safety culture of Zero Harm while ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations. This position works 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, fly in & out.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and developing the various databases and reports in support of mining activities.
  • Daily data entry of daily production mapping and assay data.
  • Organizing geological data from various sources, such as underground chip, muck, and test hole samples, underground mapping, and underground & surface diamond drilling.
  • Analyzing geological data using software tools and statistical methods to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Interpreting geological data to create maps and models that inform decision-making processes in the mining production and near mine exploration environments.
  • Collaborating with mine, exploration & resource geologists, mining engineers, and operations personnel to integrate geological data into project planning and development.
  • Ensure smooth dataflow between various departments and outside entities.
  • Adjusts and establishes daily tasks to meet changing orders of priorities and performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology/Earth Science or related field.
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Geoscientist with EGBC.
  • Experience in an underground Mining production setting.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D modeling software (MinePlan, Lor equivalent modelling software), geological database software such as MS Access, SQL and mapping software.
  • A combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license or equivalent.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of geological principles, including mineralogy, petrology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
  • Strong understanding of geological and production databases.
  • Ability to problem solve and think critically, identifying trends and risks, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is commonly used in data analysis, such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Ability to be highly flexible and prioritize multiple tasks with good time management skills, strong attention to detail, and quality of work.
  • Experience in interpreting geological data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex geological concepts and data analysis results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong safety work ethic and responsible, accountable, and dependable.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending and moving for long periods of time; lifting and moving up to 50 lbs. throughout a shift in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be highly flexible and prioritize multiple tasks with good time management skills, strong attention to detail, and quality of work.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in conditions exposed to the elements (snow, rain, sub-freezing weather, heat, and wind).
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental and safety provincial and federal legislation; and safety and environmental standards and legislation pertaining to the mining industry.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

  • $110,000 - $125,000 per annum
  • STIP Bonus
  • Extended Medical Health/Dental/Vision 100% employer contributed
