Java Software Engineer

Anson McCade are pleased to be working with a consultancy who have an urgent demand for a senior software engineer to work on a government project kicking off in the next 4 weeks.

Job Description:

We are seeking a self-driven and experienced Java Developer to join ta digital transformation project on a 12-month day rate contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in the modernization of a legacy Java system, requiring strong technical skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear and consistent communication with the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse and transfer functionality from a legacy Java system
• Design and build modern, scalable APIs using Java Spring Boot
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Ensure maintainability, performance, and reliability of application components
• Contribute to both backend and frontend (React) as needed

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience with Java and Spring Boot, particularly in designing and building RESTful APIs
• Exposure to or working knowledge of React for front-end development
• Ability to work independently as a contractor while maintaining strong lines of communication
• Previous experience in legacy system migration or modernization projects is highly desirable

Duration: 12 months
