Insight Global is seeking multiple Software Development Engineers to provide first-level support and development for all incoming production software application issues related to 2 large migration projects for the Customer Service Experience team. The ideal candidates ideally would have been involved in application migrations in the past. This role will be mostly hands on development and work in migrating services and databases in Java. This team is all back end data bases and services, no front-end required. We are looking for qualified candidates who can hit the ground running and are extremely sharp. They must be detail-oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, be able to work independently, and maintain professionalism under pressure. This contract with be 7 months with possible extensions and will be onsite 5 days per week in Downtown Toronto.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, debug, and implement fixes for internally developed code mostly in Java (could also include Perl, C/C++).
- Perform SQL queries.
- Improve systems and automate support processes.
- Update, track, and resolve technical challenges.
- Collaborate with development teams on corporate and divisional software projects.
- Update and enhance current software.
- Document systems and migration tasks.
Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering specifically for application support and development.
- Experience as part of a large team working to migrate applications or services from old infrastructure/legacy systems.
- Excellent hands on coding skills mostly in Java coding languages and ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Experience and hands on technical ability in back end databases and services utilizing some of Mason, Perl CGI, Oracle SQL, HTML, and UNIX/Linux.
- Excellent communication and proactive ability to get things done quickly.
- A Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
