Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer/Designer to join a satellite systems company at their Montreal office. As the world's leading independent commercial supplier of antennas, payloads, and electronics for communication satellites and radars, the team has successfully contributed to hundreds of missions over the past 60 years. With extensive experience in a wide range of solutions provided to clients worldwide, our satellite systems team continues to grow and evolve both on the ground and among the stars. The Senior Electronics Engineer/Designer will be part of a team of electronic designers working on the development, implementation, and validation of mixed-signal digital-analog printed circuit boards (PCBs). Applications vary according to the candidate's skills and interests: high-speed telecommunication systems, processors, mass memories, motor controls, telemetry systems, and for use in satellite and aerospace systems.
Responsibilities
Lead the design of digital-analog printed circuit boards (PCBs) in an aerospace environment under the supervision of a technical authority.
Coach and supervise junior PCB designers or new employees.
Convert board requirements into PCB design (architecture, inputs/outputs, component selection, power dissipation, FPGA requirements, software development requirements, etc.).
Coordinate with FPGA, software, and test designers to finalize the functional concept and integration.
Complete and review schematic entry. Identify new technologies and associated risks. Guide the design team to comply with manufacturing and assembly rules (Design for Manufacture/Test) associated with aerospace.
Manage and review PCB routing and placement constraints. Monitor the purchase and qualification of components, including long lead-time procurement.
Complete and review circuit simulations and analyses (SPICE, Hyperlynx, ADS, worst-case analysis or WCA, FMECA, etc.). Coordinate various technical reviews with a multidisciplinary team (structure, thermal, packaging, production, quality assurance, etc.).
Monitor the production, assembly, and testing of the board. Prepare and review various documents such as client presentations, test plans, specifications, etc.
Lead the testing and debugging of complex PCB boards and guide junior team members and new employees.
Support environmental testing for a space mission.
