We're seeking a Mechanical Estimator with strong technical insight, a strategic mindset, and a passion for precision in cost planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, competitive estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and building automation systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, suppliers, and clients to scope requirements and timelines.
• Use estimating software (such as AutoBid or Bluebeam) to prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labour, materials, and equipment.
• Identify potential risks and recommend cost-saving alternatives through value engineering strategies.
• Prepare professional bid submissions and present estimates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the handoff from estimating to project management, ensuring a smooth transition and accurate scope delivery.

Qualifications

• A Journeyman Certificate in HVAC, Sheet Metal, or Plumbing is required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical estimating or related field.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and controls.
• Proven ability to read blueprints, mechanical plans, and tender specifications.
• Proficient with estimation tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) integration is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional client-facing demeanor.
• Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple bids under tight deadlines.
