About the Company:

Our client, a well-established and dynamic law firm located in Toronto, is seeking a Litigation Associate to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation files, including contract disputes, business torts, partnership and shareholder disputes, and other commercial matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and develop case strategies for clients, ensuring their best interests are represented.
  • Represent clients in court and at tribunals, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis of emerging legal trends and issues.
  • Work closely with senior counsel, clients, and experts to prepare for hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Attend client meetings, providing regular updates on case progress and advising on next steps.
  • Contribute to the development of the firm's business by fostering client relationships and participating in business development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A law degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of two years of post-call experience in commercial litigation or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex legal arguments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a diverse caseload, including appearing in court and preparing legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A client-focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
