About the Company:
Our client, a well-established and dynamic law firm located in Toronto, is seeking a Litigation Associate to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation files, including contract disputes, business torts, partnership and shareholder disputes, and other commercial matters.
- Provide strategic legal advice and develop case strategies for clients, ensuring their best interests are represented.
- Represent clients in court and at tribunals, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and provide analysis of emerging legal trends and issues.
- Work closely with senior counsel, clients, and experts to prepare for hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Attend client meetings, providing regular updates on case progress and advising on next steps.
- Contribute to the development of the firm's business by fostering client relationships and participating in business development initiatives.
Requirements:
- A law degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of two years of post-call experience in commercial litigation or a related field.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex legal arguments.
- Demonstrated experience managing a diverse caseload, including appearing in court and preparing legal documents.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A client-focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
