Our client, a leading underground construction services provider for infrastructure project across Canada, is currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Coordinator to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.
You will become an integral part of a team of Trenchless Industry Innovators and Experts expert designers and engineers providing services for rehabilitation, maintenance, protection and design. This position will support the procurement team by managing purchasing activities, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. This position will be working out of their office in Woodbridge, Ontario.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide purchasing services to projects as requested by site foremen and head office staff
- Negotiate contracts, delivery schedules, returns and rebates with suppliers and subcontractors
- Ensure all day-to-day purchases are made at the lowest possible cost, in consideration with quality and delivery
- Protect pricing arrangements through issuance of purchasing agreements that extend for the project duration
- Establish, build and maintain vendor relationships through the development and qualification of new suppliers, while maintaining and monitoring existing ones
- Ensure proper flow of purchasing documentation and information
- Analyze quotations thoroughly to identify and eliminate elements of risk, avoiding delays and improve profitability of the project
- Proactively follow-up with quotations, analyze comparisons and discuss buying opportunities with Project Management team
- Create/maintain vendor lists and purchasing reports
- Work closely with Accounting team to verify invoiced orders and coordinate required adjustments with Vendors
- Contribute to the organization through other duties and projects as required and determined by Management
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in business administration, commerce, supply chain management, or related fields
- Minimum 2+ years related experience in procurement for construction supplies and materials
- Possess strong organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task under pressure of deadlines
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work on multiple projects at the same time and effectively manage priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required for data entry, creating and updating spreadsheets
- Knowledge of Jonas Management System is an asset
