Job Description:

Our client is an Environmental Services company looking for a Senior Accountant to join them.

Reporting into the Controller this position will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with the finance and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate financial entries as part of month-end close.
  • Manage the upload process for expense reports and per diem submissions.
  • Prepare and post rent invoices, management fees, and benefit insurance allocations.
  • Prepare Statutory Declarations as required.
  • Prepare and post GST, QST, and HST worksheets.
  • Prepare and post prepaid expense worksheets.
  • Prepare and post vehicle loan amortization schedules.
  • Calculate and post depreciation of assets in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile holdback payable and receivable accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Support audit preparation and ensure all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide clarification when needed.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks and special projects as required.
  • Assist in designing and documenting financial key financial processes (e.g. AP, AR, Month-end close, etc.).
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and visual aids for shared services processes that are maintained within the finance organization in order to enable standardization of workflows and training.
  • With a mandate of continuous improvement, update procedures as necessary to reflect changes in systems, regulations or business needs.
  • Maintain an organized repository for all financial processes and procedures, making them easily accessible to staff and assist with training and adoption as required.

    • Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in accounting with significant experience in team lead and business exposure.
  • Exposure to the full general ledger and strong operational understanding.
  • Construction industry experience is an asset.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
