Design Manager
Our client is searching for a Design Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design team in the development of automotive manufacturers, ensuring the design process is efficient, innovative, and aligns with high standards of quality. A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of design principles, manufacturing processes, and a passion for managing design teams to achieve outstanding results.
Your success is defined by your ability to:

  • Lead and manage the design team responsible for the creation of industrial designs from concept through to final production
  • Collaborate with cross-function teams, to ensure designs meet customer requirements and industry standards
  • Oversee and review design drawings, CAD models, and prototypes to ensure accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives within the design process, focusing on cost reduction, time efficiency, and quality enhancement
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring designs are delivered on time and within budget
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, new materials, and technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into designs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry certifications in all designs
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
  • Work closely with the production team to resolve any design-related issues that arise during the manufacturing process
  • Your strengths include:

  • Degree or Diploma in Industrial Design, or a related field
  • Proven experience in design management within the manufacturing sector
  • Strong proficiency in Canadian software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and other design tools
  • In-depth understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a design team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot design issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communications skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • Experience with ERP systems
