Technician (Crane Projects)
Location: Pickering Nuclear Generating Station - Pickering, ON
On-Site: Monday - Friday
Duration: 1 Year (Can be extended annually)
Hourly Rate: $45 - $65/hour

Job Summary:
We are seeking 4 experienced Crane Technicians to support operations at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. The ideal candidates will have prior experience working with overhead cranes, lifting and rigging equipment, and related mechanical/electrical systems-with a strong preference for those who have worked on Ontario Power Generation (OPG) sites.
This is a hands-on, site-based role, requiring a high level of technical skill, safety awareness, and familiarity with OPG's standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of cranes and lifting equipment.
- Support rigging and lifting operations to ensure safety and compliance with OPG procedures.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues related to crane systems.
- Maintain detailed service records and inspection reports in accordance with OPG documentation protocols.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Crane Technician or in a similar role working with industrial cranes and lifting equipment.
- Previous experience at OPG sites is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of OPG safety standards, nuclear work environments, and site procedures.
- Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical systems associated with cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Certifications in crane safety, rigging, or fall protection are considered assets.
