Senior Communications Specialist
Our client is searching for a Senior Communications Specialist to join their team. This role will be responsible for ensuring consistent messaging, creating communication pieces, leading special projects, handling media requests, and providing crisis management support. Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure alignment in content planning
  • Collaborate with the department to ensure all new projects are entered into the project management platform.
  • Delegate and prioritize appropriately under the guidance of the Director of Communications
  • Develop content and rollout plans for strategic initiatives, ensuring clear and effective communication, including initiatives such as Strategic Plans, Annual Reports, and upcoming technology projects
  • Create and disseminate ad-hoc communications pieces
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to create scripting for key operational and strategic initiatives, events and videos
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Customer Insights, troubleshooting system errors before escalating to the Technology Department
  • Collaborate with the Technology Department in developing Customer Insights best practices, process documents, and templates
  • Lead Special Projects under the guidance of the Director of Communications, including but not limited to website changes, BOD Orientation Package video editing as needed to support various department needs
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely successful project completion
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive crisis management framework outlining internal and external communication protocols in collaboration with eh Director of Communications, the Leadership Team and the CEO
  • Act as the primary for receiving ad-hoc interview requests and develop scripting for Board Chair or press releases under the guidance of Director of Communications
  • Delegate interview requests as needed to the Communications Specialist
  • Provide coverage to the Communications Specialist for statistics package or requests for information from the general public
  • Support the Director to create a long-term Communications strategy aligned with the Strategic Plan, supporting a proactive approach for all communications
  • Act as the second point of contact in crisis situations when the Director is unavailable
  • Act as a proxy for Director of Communications when delegated, report back and escalate issues as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of the current market and economic conditions through the reading and research of industry publications
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to create branded campaign pieces for the member portal, social media, or other communication platform
  • Support the Communications Team with member and staff events throughout the year via brainstorming and planning and aiding with on-site logistics
  • Liaise with external vendors and agencies
  • Your strengths include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing of Communications required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Communications roles involving content creation, business writing, public advertising efforts, and facilitating media relations
  • Strong project management skills and working knowledge of various project management technologies, tools and theories
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Content Management Systems (WordPress), Social Media Management tools
  • Previous experience working in a Non-Profit or Association setting is an asset
