IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Senior Clinical Program Director

Reports To: Vice President Clinical Programs

Duration: 4 months

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Our client, a high-profile hospital, is looking to hire an experienced interim clinical leader to cover a diverse and critical portfolio during a leave of absence. This is an exciting assignment as you will be responsible for strategic and operational management of a large team of expert clinical professionals collaborating with medical leaders in surgery and anesthesia. You will play a critical role as the organization reviews its processes to enhance the patient experience and ensure optimal efficiency as part of a financial recovery plan. We are looking for an experienced perioperative leader who thrives in dynamic, complex environments and loves a challenge.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing senior operational leadership for the programs and services within Surgery, Trauma, Critical Care and Surgical Ambulatory Care.
  • Directing and aligning clinical operations to effectively achieve corporate and program objectives.
  • Providing leadership and oversight for the delivery of clinical care within the portfolio and ensuring that the quality of care properly meets the standards of care.
  • Planning and strategizing for changing circumstances and new program goals and objectives.
  • Performing fiscal management and integrating financial considerations into programs in order to assist decision making.
  • Establishing priorities for program resource allocations, including operating, capital, and renovation plans.
  • Championing a customer service approach to program goals and associated community relations.
  • Enabling continued professional practice development of staff.
  • Ensuring the continuous development of direct reports and management teams through leadership, education, coaching and performance management.
  • Supporting the advancement of an organization's values-based culture.
  • Collaborating with executive and peer leaders in fostering engagement and the wellness of our people.
  • Build strong relationships with physicians, medical staff, and health professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-focused care delivery.
  • Participating in and/or leading internal senior leadership committee.
  • Communicating with the executive team, internal partners, external stakeholders, Ontario Health, and the MOH as appropriate to ensure strategic advancement of the portfolio in alignment with the organization's strategic plan and the broader Ontario Health strategy.

Competencies and Requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing or health discipline required.
  • Regulated Health Professional with certification in good standing from respective regulatory body.
  • Minimum of 8 years in progressive management roles in a health care setting with at least 5 of those years in an acute care/hospital setting.
  • Experience in business planning, resource management, program planning, development, evaluation and managing patient care services is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with physicians, community partners, academic partners, and other programs and service providers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of program management concepts to facilitate clinical and support services interactions within the programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes / systems to ensure effective and efficient program management infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated skill level in collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution, human resources management, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with physicians, community partners, academic partners, and other programs and service providers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading effective strategies to improve patient access and flow across complex systems.
